Sumi (Cambodia) Wiring Systems Co. Ltd., the local subsidiary of Japan's giant Sumitomo Corporation, has started its operations at Phnom Penh SEZ with a modern wiring harness production line, where initially 50 workers are setting up the production while a headcount of 500 staff is to be reached by the end of this year.
All wiring products made at Sumi (Cambodia) and in Phnom Penh SEZ are destined for export to Japan, which together with the European Union and other world markets
allows duty free access for Cambodia-made products.
"We are on the fast track to host more international production facilities at Phnom Penh SEZ", says Hiroshi Uematsu, Managing Director at Cambodia's leading SEZ. "After the opening of the production lines of Minebea late last year, this is the second modern facility producing in the Kingdom of Cambodia. We are glad to have this international player with us, further increasing the quality of the products made in Cambodia and serving the international market."
