Over the past decade, Cambodia has aggressively opened up its economy to effectively face new challenges and opportunities as they present themselves in the 21st Century. To compete in the global market, the Royal Government of Cambodia has liberalized export policies & licensing and implemented tax reforms providing various incentives. It has also promoted the creation of various economic zones - self contained Special Economic Zones to Export Processing Zones.
Special Economic Zones are considered as growth engines that can boost manufacturing, augment exports and generate employment. Components of a Special Economic Zone include infrastructural facilities like roads, generation and distribution of power, telecommunication, hospitals, hotels, education center, leisure and entertainment units, residential/industrial/commercial complex, water supply sanitation and sewerage system and any other facility required for investment friendly zone.
To achieve the prime objective of attracting FDI, increasing exports and accelerating the country’s economic growth, the city’s first Special Economic Zone – The Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ) was started in 2006.
Located strategically along the industrial corridor of National Route No. 4 which leads from the city to the deep water port of Sihanoukville, PPSEZ is a mere 18 kms from the city centre and when it opens its doors in January, 2008, have comprehensive infrastructure and ancillary facilities, including its own "One Stop Service" whereby investors in the PPSEZ can have access to Government services provided by the Administration of Special Economic Zone (ASEZ).
The ASEZ guarantees efficient and speedy services for the investors to register their permit and obtain licenses right at the zone area. Potential investors are assured the real deal in investing their business in a safe and secure environment.
PPSEZ is targeting investors from within Cambodia and the region, especially those who are looking at relocating as we provide a destination which is complete in all aspects and also strategically located to become the export destination to the region and the world.
We currently has in-operation from Cambodian and other ASEAN investors and we are also promoting aggressively in country like Japan, China and Korea as the time will soon come for companies to re-locate out of other more developed ASEAN countries. When they do, PPSEZ is ready and available to cater for their every needs and demands.
